Beyond the State - NZ State Houses from Modest to Modern - Bill McKay

Registration is closed for this event
As part of the our 'Active Hand of Government' series for 2014, we present Bill McKay, Senior Lecturer, School of Architecture and Planning, speaking to his new publication.

Bill is a remarkable advocate for a livable Auckland built on heritage values and respect for what we did and got right already. In a town with a brief history, we have sadly, demolished so much already and forgotten the values and qualities that drove, for example the state house neighbourhoods that have been such a central place in the fabric of the city. This book reminds us of the incredible value, values and design that went into these endeavors joining together the aspirations of governments, builders and citizens.
