Mike Smith - The Corbyn Phenomenon - An Appreciation - AKL

Jeremy Corbyn was recently and unexpectedly elected Leader of the UK Labour Party on the first ballot. Labour Party membership has gone from 200,000 to nearly 600,000 and 50,000 new members have signed up since he was elected.  By any measure this is an extraordinary phenomenon.

Fabian Society chair Mike Smith has been in London for the past two and a half months. He attended an early Corbyn rally in Camden and was at the Labour Party Conference in Brighton on September 29th to hear Corbyn speak. He will offer some observations on what has happened in the UK and what my be of interest for Politics in New Zealand.
