Tax Justice or Tax Haven? - Deborah Russell- 17 May - AKL

Registration is closed for this event

The release of material via ‘The Panama Papers’ has caused more than ripples. The issues and details released go to the heart of questions on integrity and global justice. In a world already concerned about the tactics of the 1% the papers offer up the data set that highlights where the game gets rigged.

Evidence of so many tax havens and their operations comes on top of increasing claims that the moral foundations of tax policy need rethinking; the impact of tax practice is seldom fair and consistent, corporates avoid paying their dues and governments must do so much more to defend the integrity of their tax systems. The voice of the public remains the best defence available for equity.

It is great to be bringing Deborah Russell back to Auckland for this session. She was described recently by Russell Brown, the curator of Public Address and Media Take, as one of the best guests we have ever had on the show!
