Why has New Zealand remained relatively immune from right wing populism and will it stay that way?

Stephen Mills was a staffer for the 1984-1990 Labour Government working for David Lange from 1985 until his resignation in 1989 and then for Helen Clark the then Deputy PM 1989-1990.  Stephen is currently the executive director UMR Research. He has worked in the market research industry from 1990 to present day.  He has been involved in NZLP and ALP polling in over 50 campaigns.
